Our Proud Social Initiative
Sumana Vidya Kendra, an English medium school, is situated in Mellahalli village within the Mysore district of Karnataka, India. Established in 2022, the school offers education up to the 10th standard and currently supports 234 enrolled students who come from severely under-privileged families living in poverty. These students come from communities where getting an education is extremely difficult & problematic. They lack the opportunity to break the poverty cycle in their communities where education, healthcare, and social sustainability are of extremely low standard. The Sumana Foundation, sponsored by DBiz.ai, was set up and is dedicated to supporting single-parent and female students through fee concessions to help improve their lives and help the communities these students come from.
Formation of a Vision
The initiative started with personal contributions from members of the DBiz Leadership Team. Over time, it evolved into an organizational mission focused on female child education and women’s empowerment in a community where it is lacking. Presently, these students face housing challenges, often residing in cramped conditions. They aspire to secure better housing facilities, pursue higher education, and ultimately attain stable, well-paying jobs.
Building This Vision
DBiz sponsors scholarship programs for children, covering their education expenses up to the 10th grade. The intention behind these programs is to provide support to exceptionally talented students who lack the means for higher education. DBiz achieves this by assisting them in technology-related courses, offering a comprehensive package that includes in-house training, internships, project assistance, and the possibility of future employment within the organization. This holistic support not only alleviates financial barriers but also joyfully engages students, encouraging them to attend school and embrace the opportunity to learn and grow.
The Impact
Empowering these children with educational opportunities and instilling aspirations for financial and professional stability is our goal. We actively assist and support students in their pursuit of improved housing, higher education, and the achievement of stable, well-paying jobs. Our efforts aim to enhance the standard of living in these crucial communities, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
Students received quality education, from grade 1 to grade 10, who come from underprivileged, financially backward, and rural communities.
Students successfully completed their 10th grade, and they were awarded with mementos and cash incentives during a graduation ceremony in June 2023.
Our Future Commitment
- DBiz plans to support higher education for more vulnerable students who come from families that cannot afford it.
- We aim to provide training, internships, project support, and employment opportunities. The overarching goal is to empower these children and make a lasting difference in their lives and communities.
- The commitment includes increasing the ration supply, as the school orphanage team has now expanded to 70 members, including children. Additionally, the organization conducts free blood donation camps every three months and supports the development and progress of a vegetable farming program within the school.
- DBiz also offers a sports development program to enable students to excel in key competitions.
Our Early Success Story
Background Context
Preethi, from a Scheduled Tribe community, faced challenging living conditions, with her mother working as a vegetable vendor and her father as a daily wage laborer.
Impactful Outcome
Through dedication and support, Preethi graduated 10th grade from Sumana Vidya Kendra and secured a full scholarship for her undergraduate studies. Now pursuing a degree in clinical research at Yuvaraja College, Mysore, she represents the transformative power of education and support.
